Trent Park Aquathlon Race Report

Winning performances from Robin Greenwood (junior male), Caitlin Flannery (junior female), Dylan Hanks (open senior) and Anja Greenwood (female senior) saw the Trent Park Aquathlon make a successful return on 22 August with aplomb.

On a balmy, sunny morning at the beautiful Queenswood School, competitors enjoyed a swim in the private pool before tackling a fast run around the closed school fields. Forty athletes took part, with a handful of family members and friends joining the field to enjoy the friendly atmosphere. This year also marked a milestone for the event, with chip timing being introduced for the first time.

A huge thank you goes to the volunteers who made the event possible, many of whom also raced on the day. Their hard work and enthusiasm helped ensure everything ran smoothly from start to finish.

On a personal note, this was my first event as Race Director and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. That was largely due to being supported by an excellent and experienced team throughout the planning and delivery of the race. I would encourage anyone interested in getting involved behind the scenes to consider taking on a role like this during the year. It is both rewarding and fulfilling, and a great way to contribute to the Club.

We are already looking ahead to next year’s event and hope to make it even bigger and better, attracting more participants from across the Club and beyond.
