Men’s Team Race Report

For the first Sunday League race this season we had a new venue with interesting parking arrangements an energy sapping walk to mystery start/finish area. The course was more or less flat around one short lap and 3 bigger laps. There were some narrow paths where runners were passing in both directions. All making it a fun morning. We had the usual concerns about low numbers exacerbated by the fact that we don’t have to register runners in advance. In the end we had decent numbers with so many off doing other races.

At the time of writing we have no results either for individuals or the team. I will update this report once the results are out but there are a few things to mention. Jimmy Barber who is 2nd claim for us since moving and joining Highgate Harriers but still loves to turn out when he can had a storming race and won overall by a significant distance. Great credit goes to all those who were running their second race for the Club this weekend and third this week. Ben Allen is a good example, he was our first finisher at Claybury and 2nd at both Hog Hill and Hoddesdon and he is off to run Amsterdam Marathon this coming weekend.

Our thanks go to Paul Hart and his family for recording our finishers and his daughter Jessica for doing a wonderful job with the camera. Jessica is welcome back any time.

Another enjoyable Sunday League race with great team spirit. It would be great to more runners from across the Club. The next Sunday League race will be in 2 weeks (27th October) at Royston, followed by our home fixture in Trent Park a week later (3rd November).
