Here we are with the final league races of the Winter Cross Country season coming to an end this weekend with the Chingford League Relays on Saturday and the Royston Sunday League race the next day.

Chingford League Relays Wanstead Flats Saturday 11th March 2023 Start Time 11:30 am
On this coming Saturday we have the Chingford League Relays at Wanstead Flats. This is a great event which we have a great history of wins for both men and women. As you can tell from the name of the location it is flat and each leg is only 2 miles (shorter for younger juniors).

Contrary to what I said last week we need to sort out teams and submit them by Friday. Some last minute adjustments are possible on the day. Please make sure your name is on the list by signing up on the Coacha event or letting Chas, Scott or Anja know. I am very pleased to see that some Juniors are signed up for this and it would be great to see more. The meet point with postcode is Wanstead Flats, Harrow Road Pavilion, E11 3QA. Parking can be problematic and at the location is chargeable. Organisers are recommending public transport or parking on streets in the area. After the relays there will be a presentation for the season and we have lots to trophies to pick up. For extra incentive there is a charity cake sale. Hopefully see many of you there.

Sunday League Race 4 Royston Sunday 12th March 2023 Start Time 10:30 am
The rescheduled Sunday League race at Royston takes place on this coming Sunday. It is the 4th and final race in this year’s competition. We have checked with the League regarding trophies as we are still one race short of the normal 5 and trophies will be awarded based on the 4 races and this will apply to both team and individual trophies. For individual trophies you will have to have run all 4 races. We have many in line for trophies if they run at Royston.

The women are in a very strong position but it will take some unusual results for the men to win but should place well. This means it is very important to get the best possible turnout. The location and other details are as in previous year’s and fully covered on the Club website under the ‘Races and Events Calendar’ section. The location is The Heath Sports Club, Baldock Road, Royston, SG8 5BG. There is a Coacha event which will help us to know who to expect but there is no pre-registration or numbers required. It will be great to see lots of you there.
