CURRENT MEMBERSHIP FEES

A large proportion of the membership fee goes to the Hockey Centre for use of the facilities which are the envy of other clubs. Unlike some other clubs, there are no additional charges for sessions other than swimming and the occasional special session. We also allow any member, regardless of ability to enter any of the clubs sponsored races be it the National Cross County championships or a local inter-club race.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I wait until I'm fit before coming along?

You need to be able to run continuously for about 30 minutes at a time.

If you are not quite there yet then you may want to sign up for our beginners’ course that will train you to run your first 5k.

To be notified of when we are doing our next beginners course then please email [email protected] and they will add you to the mailing list for this.

Do you do a beginners course?

We do run a beginners course but this is only run once a year, usually in January or February.

If you would like to be notified when the next course is please email [email protected] to be added to the mailing list.

Can I try the club first before joining?

We can offer a free temporary membership for both seniors and juniors so you can attend a few sessions before making a firm commitment. To set up a temporary membership please contact us.

For seniors, we suggest the initial session is on Thursday night when we meet at the hockey centre from 7 pm.

Juniors, there is currently a waiting list, so you will be invited to a session.

Please email us at [email protected] or fill out our contact form before visiting so we can send you the temporary membership form and ensure someone is available to guide you on your first visit.

Where does the club meet for each session?

The club primarily meets at the Club House (Southgate Hockey Centre) within Trent Park unless otherwise specified. There is a large car park in the grounds and Oakwood Underground station is within walking distance.

See our Locations page for full details.

What leagues and races does the club do?

The club host a monthly 5k handicap (time trial) race on the last Saturday of each month (except December). Details of this can be found on our handicap page.

The club is also a member of various leagues around the year and sends members to various regional and national events. These are all free of charge to members and any member can attend these.

In the winter months, the club takes part in the Metropolitan Cross Country League, Met League for short, which is one of the largest and most established leagues in the country and open to juniors and seniors.

In addition, the seniors also compete in the Sunday Cross Country League, and the Chingford League. The Chingford League are on Saturdays and some evening races and includes road and cross-country races. Juniors compete in the North West London League series of cross-country races.

In the summer months, the seniors take part in the Midweek League on a Wednesday or Thursday evening where the host club provides a post-run buffet.

Details of forthcoming races can be found on our calendar page.

I am interested in Triathlon

The club has an active triathlon section that competes in various triathlons and other multi-sport events, duathlon, etc.

They host pool swimming sessions, where an additional fee applies, and open water sessions during the warmer months that are covered as part of your membership.

Contact the tri section for more details via email at [email protected]  or use our contact form.

Currently, we don’t have a junior triathlon section but some of our junior members do take part in events.
