Beginners Course 2023

Beginners Course 2023

Our beginner course runs from the 1st of April to the 27th of May 2023.

if you don’t think you are quite ready to join one of our regular groups or want to start running and need some help and encouragement to get going, you may want to return to running after a long layoff, we have the ideal solution for you. We will be offering another of our highly respected Beginners Courses again this year. It will begin on Saturday 1st April 2023 and finish on Saturday 27th May 2023.

This course has been running very successfully for 15 years with many graduates still running and getting enjoyment and achievement from the involvement. The course is a friendly and progressive process to take participants from start to running happily in groups or on their own. We would be delighted if those taking part join Trent Park Running Club at the end of the course but there is certainly no obligation to do this. The course is for Seniors (18+).

The course consists of two managed group sessions per week taking place on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. In addition to this, participants are expected to fit an additional session of their own into the week. The Tuesday session will generally take place at the QEII running track in Donkey Lane in Enfield starting at 7:00 pm and the Saturday session will start at 9:30 am in Trent Park from the base at Southgate Hockey Centre. Sessions will run for approximately an hour and include a thorough warm-up, a progressive run/walk segment and a full warm-down and stretch.

The group sessions will be fully managed with support from qualified leaders and the group will be carefully kept together while everyone has the opportunity to find their own level. Learning to run as a group is an amazing experience where encouragement is key and friendships that endure are made. It is a very safe environment to launch your journey into running enjoyment.

There is a wide range of additional information available with regular updates on equipment, injury avoidance, nutrition, stretching and much more. All of the support team are there to help and provide advice so please ask questions.

The support team is being led by Tali Swart, who has many significant and appropriate qualifications and all of the team have strong experience with leading beginners and other groups. If you have any questions please contact the team at [email protected].
